Here are some more views of the new studio - there's been a lot done since these photos were taken. All of the control room floors (except for Studio A's control room) have been put down (though they still need sanded, stained, and finished) and all of the first layer of soundproof glass has been installed. There's still another layer of glass to go, then there's a bit of carpet and some fabric that goes on the walls. Oh, and doors were supposed to arrive Monday and be installed, but I haven't seen anyone working there for the last few days, except the tile guys for the bathrooms. This might not be exciting for you, but man, those bathrooms are looking awesome. As soon as they're tiled, they'll be painted and have all of the fixtures installed, and then they are finished. I think the kitchen cabinets are going in on the 22nd.
That's the update for now. Still no power, of course. Why would you even ask?

It's looking amazing. If I didn't adore Boston too much to leave at the moment I'd beg to run your "B" room. Glad to see you're becoming a Rogers fan too. I have a Rogers kit with the 26" Kick, 20" Floor Tom, and 15" Rack Tom. It sounds immense. I'm after a killer dark explosive snare at the moment to crown it... any suggestions?
Holy smokes...sounds like a huge kit. I have an old Rogers B + B "Monitor" mahogany snare that's a 6 1/2", and it's pretty dark and huge. I would think if you'r looking for something dark, go for mahogany. OR...actually, I might take it back. A 6 1/2" (or 7", if you can find one) Slingerland Radio King solid-shell maple snare from the 30s - 40s is definitely one of the biggest sounding snares out there. I have one from the 20s and one from the 30s, and the 30s snare is definitely darker and heavier-sounding. Ludwig Black Beauty snares are great too, even the modern ones. Maybe use a set of wires with fewer strands if you want it to be darker. Black Beauty snares are massive-sounding. And my final piece of advice is an old 80s Tama Bell Brass snare. They weigh about 22 lbs. and they are the biggest, most ridiculous sounding snares I've ever heard. they're pretty rare, but I'm sure they're out there. I hear the newer ones aren't as cool.
